Fixed Docker Compose credential handling
Problem
Several Docker Compose configurations read OPENAI_API_KEY, while the Hindsight API expected HINDSIGHT_API_LLM_API_KEY. A developer could set the documented variable and have the credential ignored. Depending on the configuration, the failure appeared during the first memory operation or as a startup error that named the wrong variable.
My contribution
I traced the mismatch across nine Compose variants and changed their environment-variable substitutions to use HINDSIGHT_API_LLM_API_KEY. I retained fail-fast validation where it already existed and removed misleading placeholder defaults. I also updated the supporting READMEs and .env.example files so the documented setup matched the runtime configuration.
The merged change makes the nine Compose variants read the documented credential variable and report the correct configuration requirement.
Reported an outdated Zed MCP configuration
Problem
Hindsight’s Zed setup CLI generated a configuration based on the mcp-remote bridge after Zed added native remote MCP server support. The generated settings could prevent the Hindsight MCP connection from working.
My contribution
I reported the incompatibility with reproduction steps, an example of the generated configuration, and the native Zed MCP format required for the connection.
The merged fix writes a remote-server configuration with url and headers, replaces outdated bridge entries when setup runs again, and preserves JSONC settings handling. It also removes the npx mcp-remote dependency from the Zed setup path.
